Transfers run October 13–27 (PDT) — base cost 0 Quna, once per account
NC’s official notice (published October 10, 2026) opens server transfer purchases after the scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, October 13 (PDT) / Wednesday, October 14 (CEST). Early Access servers can buy transfers October 13–20 (PDT); Launch servers can buy them October 20–27 (PDT). The base cost is 0 Quna, once per account, and each additional character slot beyond what the destination server offers costs 1,000 Quna. Transfers are one per account, same faction and same region only, and Early Access characters can only move to other Early Access servers. Dungeons and other instanced content already play cross-server, so only the open-world server community changes when you move.
The Confirmed Transfer Rules
The full operational picture is now confirmed by NC’s October 10, 2026 notice. The purchase window runs after the maintenance on October 13 (PDT) / October 14 (CEST) through before the maintenance on October 28 (CEST). Week one (October 13–20 PDT) sells transfers for Early Access servers only; week two (October 20–27 PDT) sells transfers for Launch servers only. Transfers are limited to one per account during the entire period, with no limit on how many characters move in that one transfer.
Pricing is also published: the base cost is 0 Quna, once per account, and each character moved costs 0 Quna. The charge appears only when the destination server has fewer free character slots than the number of characters you are moving — each extra slot costs 1,000 Quna. NC’s own example: transferring 6 characters into a server with 4 free slots costs 2,000 Quna to expand the slots.
Rules that were confirmed earlier still stand: same faction only, same region only, and Early Access servers transfer only to Early Access servers. Every dungeon and other instanced type of content is already cross-server, so split parties can run instanced content together today without waiting for the transfer window.
Why Transfers Matter in Launch Week
The global launch concentrated players fast: at launch, popular servers hit character-creation locks and queues, and NC opened new European servers on September 30 to spread the load. Two more EU servers followed on October 8 — Nathara (Elyos) and Tassin (Asmodian), opened at 09:00 PDT / 18:00 CEST — giving European players fresh, lower-population destinations inside their own region. Friends who picked different servers before launch week — or who could not create characters on a locked server — ended up on separate shards of the same faction war.
Server transfer is the official answer to that split. It is also the reason the feature was announced so early in the live service: the demand was visible in the Steam community hub from day one, and the October 13–27 window now anchors everyone’s plans to regroup. NC also states the transfer product “may be offered for sale again in the future in the same or a similar form” — missing this window is not necessarily a permanent lockout, but no future date is announced.
If you are choosing a server today rather than waiting, the practical read is: creation locks ease as populations settle, new servers opened during Advanced Access remain valid destinations for transfers once the system is live, and instanced content removes most of the urgency because groups can already play together.
The Same-Faction Rule
Transfers run between servers of the same faction: Elyos characters move between Elyos-populated servers and Asmodian characters between Asmodian-populated servers. The faction itself never changes in a transfer — it is chosen at character creation.
That rule preserves the server’s faction balance, which is the foundation of open-world PvP in AION 2. It also means the decision that actually matters for playing with friends is choosing the same faction, not just the same server: same faction on different servers can reunite during the October 13–27 window, but opposite factions never merge.
The October 10 notice adds a second boundary on top of faction: transfers are only possible between servers in the same region. A European server is not a valid destination for a North American character even if the faction matches. Region, like faction, cannot be changed by a transfer.
No cross-faction transfer has been announced in any form. If NC ever changes that boundary, this page will record the change with its announcement date rather than extending the current rule by assumption.
Early Access vs Launch Servers
Founder’s Pack buyers began on September 30 — five days before the free launch — and those servers are flagged as Early Access servers. The confirmed restriction keeps that flag meaningful: Early Access players transfer between Early Access servers only, at least in the opening period.
The practical consequence: a player who started during Advanced Access cannot immediately jump to a server that opened with the free launch population, and a free-launch player cannot move onto an Early Access-flagged server in the first window. Whether NC later merges the pools or relaxes the rule is TBD.
If your group mixes Advanced Access starters and October 5 starters, coordinate the destination before the window opens: week one (October 13–20 PDT) moves Early Access characters, week two (October 20–27 PDT) moves Launch server characters. Pick a server the whole group can actually reach under the confirmed rules, then move together when your week arrives.
What Already Plays Together Today
Dungeons and instanced content are already cross-server, per the official launch reminder. Parties on different servers of the same region can queue and clear instanced content together now, which is most of the daily group loop.
What stays server-bound is the shared open world: field bosses, open-world PvP, the local economy and marketplace, and the community layer of guilds and chat. Those are the things a transfer actually changes during the October 13–27 window.
For activities on the world clock, the rift timer page tracks the shared daily rhythm of Spacetime Rift windows, which remains relevant no matter which server you play on.
How to Prepare: Requirements, Path, and Costs
The purchase path is now published: during your region’s purchase window, go to [In-Game Shop] → [Server Transfer] and select what you want to move. The purchase button activates once your character meets the requirements. Purchase hours vary by region and repeat daily during the transfer period — for example, the Europe region buys between 12:00–16:00 and 18:00–22:00 CEST/CET, while the North America regions buy between 09:00–13:00 and 15:00–19:00 PDT.
The eligibility requirements are strict, and most of them are things you must clean up before the button works: every transferred character must be Level 10 or higher and located in a village (not the Abyss, a Spacetime Rift, or a dungeon); the character must not belong to a Legion or have a pending Legion application; and the character must have no active Duty [Missions].
Unclaimed currency and items block the service entirely. Clear your Market listings and pending proceeds, collect everything from Shop Storage (including the Founder’s Pack), and empty the character’s mailbox before applying. Note what moves with you: only Kina in the character’s Cube inventory and Character Storage transfers — Kina in Server Storage does not — while Quna and Mileage on the current server transfer and combine with your destination-server balances.
One more rename trap: regardless of whether the name is taken on the destination server, your character is renamed “@TemporaryName” during the move and you choose a new name at first login. If your previous name is already taken there, you cannot reclaim it. Active Memberships transfer and combine with the destination server, and the Daeva Pass moves with its progress intact.
Plan the group move before the window opens: agree on a destination server everyone can reach under the same-faction, same-region, and Early Access rules, leave your Legion in advance if the whole group is moving, and remember the transfer cannot be canceled or reverted once it completes. A transfer takes at least 1 minute and may take longer when request volume is high.
