Three launch-week maintenances; the next window is TBD
The confirmed windows so far: October 1 (start around 5:30 AM PDT — the maintenance that preceded the first global coupon), October 5 from 10:00 PM PDT for about 8 hours across the free launch, and October 7 from 06:30 to 10:00 UTC — 3 hours 30 minutes for most regions, about 5 hours 30 minutes for Asia servers. NC has not announced a fixed weekly slot; both completed Wednesday windows make mid-October 13–14 the expected — but unconfirmed — next window.
Latest Maintenance: October 7
The most recent completed window ran October 7 from 06:30 UTC. Most regions — North America, Europe, and LATAM — returned at 10:00 UTC after 3 hours 30 minutes. Asia servers stayed down longer, about 5 hours 30 minutes in total. Login was unavailable for the whole window.
The window is documented by Game8’s maintenance tracker from the official announcement. As with every maintenance on this page, the authoritative schedule is the official notice — this page records what was announced and when it actually ended.
Launch-Week Maintenance History
October 1: maintenance started around 5:30 AM PDT during Advanced Access week. It is best documented for what followed it — NC issued the first global coupon code, TAKEFLIGHTAION2, immediately after this window to celebrate the No. 1 Steam top-seller milestone, and the codes page tracks that reward in full.
October 5–6: the launch-day maintenance began October 5 at 10:00 PM PDT and ran about 8 hours, spanning the free launch itself. During the window the Ludra raid was temporarily disabled, with a same-day raid update posted alongside it.
October 7: the 06:30–10:00 UTC window described above. Three maintenances in seven days is launch-week cadence, not a permanent rhythm — the table below keeps all three with their sources so the pattern can be judged from real windows rather than guesses.
Is There a Weekly Maintenance Schedule?
Not officially. NC has not published a recurring maintenance day or hour for the global service. What exists is an observed pattern: the October 1 and October 7 windows both began on a Wednesday (early morning UTC), which suggests — but does not promise — a weekly Wednesday rhythm.
Launch weeks also add unscheduled work: the roughly 8-hour October 5 window overlapped the free launch and carried live fixes. Treat any week around a major patch or event as likely to differ from the pattern.
When NC publishes a fixed weekly slot, this section replaces the pattern language with the official schedule and its timezone. Until then, the honest answer to “when is maintenance” is the dated history table plus the expected next window below.
What Happens During Maintenance
Login is unavailable for the entire window on every documented maintenance so far. Characters, progression, and shop state are server-side, so nothing is lost — the practical cost is the blocked play window itself.
Right after servers return, expect login queues and connection spikes as the concurrent population rushes back in — the same crowding visible in the launch player-count records. Planning dailies, rift windows, or group play for after the first return surge saves frustration.
Patch notes ride along with some maintenances: the October 5 window updated the Ludra raid, and coupon issuance followed the October 1 window. When a maintenance carries patch notes, they appear in the official news hub — and this page links them to their window.
Where to Check Server Status
Official channels come first: the AION 2 Steam news hub and the aion2.plaync.com notice system publish maintenance announcements with exact windows, and the official Discord repeats them for the community.
Community trackers add live color: aion2.gaming.tools tracks population, queues, and per-server status across regions, which is useful during the minutes around a window opening or closing. Third-party outage aggregators also reflect large-scale reports, but they are indicators, not schedules.
A server being down is not always maintenance — emergency restarts and connection incidents exist too. The distinction this page keeps: a scheduled maintenance has an announced window; anything else is an incident, and official channels decide which is which.
When Is the Next Maintenance?
If the Wednesday pattern holds, the next window is expected around October 13–14 — and that date is now doubly interesting because the official October 10 notice ties server transfer purchases to “the scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, October 13 (PDT) / Wednesday, October 14 (CEST).” A transfer launch riding along with the weekly maintenance is therefore expected, though the maintenance window’s exact hours have not been announced.
This page updates the moment a window is announced: the date, the UTC hours, the expected duration by region, and any patch notes attached. Until an announcement exists, the October 13–14 hours remain an expectation built on the pattern plus the transfer notice, not a published schedule.
Practical planning while the hours are TBD: finish time-sensitive activities before Wednesday morning UTC, expect the return queue, and check the server transfer page — purchases for Early Access servers open right after this maintenance.
